Local maps and navigation

A room map is a different tool from the tactical combat view.

01 / Getting started

The minimap

look includes a compact map beside the room title. Description text flows around it. map outside combat gives a larger view. North is always at the top regardless of the direction the character faces. Negative floor numbers indicate levels below ground.

The minimap preference is stored on the character. Turning it off does not remove the larger map or the tactical combat map.

map on
Show the minimap.
map off
Hide the minimap.
map toggle
Switch the minimap setting.
map local
Request the larger room map.

02 / Getting started

Use the written exits too

Map geometry does not eliminate doors or stairs or other movement rules. A space that looks adjacent can still require a valid route. Read the room description and exits when a route is unclear.

The combat view may show accessible elevation routes but does not use those markers for every possible jump or fall or flight route. Do not treat a missing stair marker as a complete movement simulation.
