Worship and opposition

Higher-power relationships are declarations with operational consequences.

01 / Organizations

Choose relationships separately

A player society starts without a patron relationship. Leaders can worship or oppose a named higher power. A society can maintain relationships with several powers. The relationship is separate from the society's category.

Both public and member society information show these relationships. Cortex is the exception to free choice: it always opposes every current and future higher power.

society patron worship <higher power>
Declare worship.
society patron oppose <higher power>
Declare opposition.
society patron none <higher power>
Clear one relationship.
society patron none
Clear every relationship that can be cleared.

02 / Organizations

A declaration is not a completed worship

Progress comes from successfully resolved worship operations. The sponsoring society needs a foothold in the power's claimed territory and the correct public relationship. Attack operations require opposition and can banish the target.

Changing a declaration does not manufacture a foothold or bypass the target and schedule checks. The operation must still be valid at launch and resolution.
