Roleplay and emotes

Write an action another character can answer.

01 / Getting started

What an emote does

An emote describes what your character does and says. Give the other players an observable action rather than deciding how their characters respond. For example: "She sets the unopened letter on the table and waits beside the door." That offers a clear action without claiming anyone is frightened or impressed.

The repository describes roleplay as a shared cast rather than a single protagonist. Give other characters meaningful parts in your plans. Conflict can create scenes but constantly demanding the spotlight tends to end them.

Places and privacy

A room can contain smaller named places. join <place> moves you into one. join without an argument leaves it. At a place you can use subtle for emotes addressed to people there and the place behaviour of whisper for quieter conversation. Read the individual command help before assuming a message is private.

03 / Getting started

Keep the boundaries clear

Player knowledge is not character knowledge. Reading a biography or a forum discussion does not give your character that information. Keep fictional hostility in the fiction. The rules prohibit out-of-character harassment and bug abuse.

The rules also prohibit earning roleplay rewards through gibberish or prewritten or aliased emotes. Treat command shortcuts and reward farming as different things.
